Food and agrarian systems on the IU campus can be enhanced with off-campus opportunities through internships, research, jobs, and mentoring among other things. In service to the state of Indiana, our engagement in this area can be multi-faceted and strives to enhance existing initiatives as well as bring innovation into food systems work.
Bridging Opportunities or campus-supported service learning opportunities in food and agrarian systems include:
- Service learning courses and connections to opportunities through the Service Learning Program.
- Volunteering for individuals and groups through the iCorps office.
- Taking a course or being involved with the Sustaining Hoosier Communities program or other work through the Center for Rural Engagement.
- Interning with an off-campus partner through the McKinney Climate Fellows program through the Environmental Resilience Institute.
- Exploring the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network database to find local opportunities in food systems.
- Talking with your professors about your passion or where you would like to learn more. Opportunities are shared among staff and faculty and passed through Canvas, academic advisors, career advisors, and specialty offices on campus like Sustain IU.
