Scaling for Wholesale is an opportunity for produce growers to draft their on-farm food safety plan according to the Federal Food Safety Modernization Act standards. For growers who have completed the Produce Safety Alliance training with SafeProduceIN, you can take the next step toward preparation for a food safety audit with Atina Diffley. Atina is a skilled farmer and food safety trainer who will offer key insights, and a wealth of experience with auditors for participants. We will work through the sections of an on-farm food safety plan in a workshop setting, and follow up with detailed, small group discussions while you write your plan.
It is important for growers to be able to access new markets, including wholesale buyer market channels. As we saw with COVID19, markets for farmers were rapidly changing and those with an on-farm food safety audit could respond quickly to the major shift from food service to retail food markets. Use this opportunity to take the steps toward audit preparation!
This opportunity is funded by a USDA Local Food Promotion program grant with primary partner, Purdue University and national partners, the Wallace Center and Family Farmed.
Dates, times, and online location for the 2020 workshop and group meetings will be announced soon!
